“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
— Martin Luther King Jr.
I’m Whitney Weaver, but most folks just call me Weaver. Hailing from Michigan’s Westside near Grand Rapids, I’m a proud Michigander now happily back home after a three-year adventure in sunny San Diego and Oceanside, California. My husband, a Detroit native and talented photographer, videographer, and musician, and I met in 2012 through a mutual friend. Together, we’re raising our son, a budding artist with dreams of running a card shop and a passion for video gaming.
Art is my heartbeat. I love diving into pottery—throwing on the wheel or slab-building functional pieces—and painting with oil and acrylics, often using a palette knife or unconventional surfaces. I’m just as comfortable with Copic markers, charcoal, oil pastels, or sculpting tactile works as I am with digital art, from vector designs to Photoshop edits and screen-printed shirts. Teaching is where my worlds collide: I guide students to discover their creative spark, grow through hands-on exploration, and express themselves, often drawing on art therapy techniques to deepen their connection to their work.
Back in Michigan, I’m soaking up the seasons—last fall’s fiery leaves, winter’s snow, and spring’s teasing warmth. Surrounded by family and friends, I’m thrilled to be home, creating, teaching, and inspiring the next generation of artists in this beautiful state.
